Third-grade adventures – “Whistler Ski Resort” by Ben
I love to ski. Honestly, I’m quite an idiot while going off jumps. Whistler is an international resort for skiing and is only a two hour drive away from my house. In this writing I am going to talk about the resort. Does Whistler Really deserve its title?
Let’s talk about the runs. They range from easy to hard and from freestyle to free ride. The mountain is so big that in some areas it will be powdery and in some areas it will be icy. This means all types of skiers are fitted to Whistler. The free ride trees are good on powdery days and on icy days they are terrible. There are a tremendous amount of chairs in Whistler. My favourite is the peak chair that takes you to the top of Whistler. At the top of the peak chair, I can go across runs and runs to get to the symphony chair. Symphony is overall the best chair for free ride trees.
Next let’s talk about the ski lodge. After I ski all morning, I am starving so I head over to the lodge. The lodge includes a set of two huge rooms for eating. They feed hundreds of people every day. The food is still delicious. Personally, on the first level, I think the burgers are the best. And on the second level, the poutine is even better. There is a Starbucks on the second level and free Wi-Fi, which can come in handy. On the second level there is a zone full of stands serving food. Also on the second level there is one table that has a beautiful window view! In the village at the bottom, there are tons of restaurants and bars.
Now let’s talk about the instructors. No one can request specific instructors but people can find out who’s teaching what and it shifts. The best instructors in my opinion push you to your limit, there are only a few the won’t listen. The best lessons are the ones where it’s only you and two or three other kids. Then there are guides I can just tell them what I am good at and they will take me to the perfect runs. But overall the instructors are excellent.
Overall Whistler deserves its huge reputation and it is probably the best ski resort internationally. There’s only one drawback: The resort is very busy and the traffic is quite painful. If you want the best experience, I suggest skiing during the week.
