Leave the Line-ups with NEXUS

Drawing the Line

There is a minor misconception that Canadians like waiting in lines, or, at the very least, don’t mind. It’s an erroneous belief probably brought about by the general truth that we are a polite people. So, while we don’t love waiting in long lines, we very rarely complain about it.

The truth is, no one, no matter where one comes from, likes waiting in lines. Whether it’s an airport, a club, a hip new restaurant or the bathrooms at the PNE, lines are boring, tedious, frustrating and time consuming.

Hurry Up and Wait

Perhaps the worst experience that people have with line-ups is whilst traveling. We all know too well the “hurry up and wait” mentality of travel! Whether at the airport or driving across the border, the lines can be killer. However, it doesn’t need to be!

What if we told you that there was a way to avoid the long purgatory-like lines at the airport and at Canadian-American border crossing! Well, there is! And it’s called NEXUS!

Feel Like a VIP

With NEXUS, you’ll be able to avoid long line-ups and save a ton of time! I can attest to that personally. To be honest, I would have missed a flight or two had I not had  NEXUS! That alone was worth having it!

Save Time!

Indeed, you’ll save copious amounts of time using the automated self-serve NEXUS kiosks when entering Canada ( at nine major international airports) and U.S Global Entry kiosks for entry into the U.S.

Avoid the Slog

You’ll also receive expedited clearance through security screening lines at major and select mid-sized airports in Canada! To be honest, there is just something very satisfying about breezing past the long security check lines, while the rest of humanity is stuck slowly slogging along. For more info about this, please click on the link: NEXUS Air

Border Song

Anyone who’s ever been stuck at the border crossing will attest to the sheer tedium of the experience. By the time you get to the border guard, you’ve already run through “Ninety Nine Bottles of Beer on the Wall” 3 times! Being stuck in your car for hours really isn’t most people’s idea of fun! (And also we hate that song)!

With NEXUS you’ll be able to avoid hours-long waits at the border in part because of a simplified entry process and dedicated NEXUS lanes. Trust me, even if you avoid an epic border line-up once, the modest NEXUS fee will have been worth it! For more information about this, please click on the link:  NEXUS Land.

How To Apply

You can apply to NEXUS online using the Trusted Traveler Programs (TTP) System, or you can complete the NEXUS paper application by downloading and filling out the form, printing it and mailing it together with the processing fee. The non-refundable application processing fee for NEXUS is $50 (Can or US) for a five-year membership. Children under the age of 18 are free.

New Vancouver Processing Location!

The great thing about applying or renewing your NEXUS is that there is now at 412-1611 Main Street (4th floor). This will make your application process even easier! For other locations, click on the link: https://www.cbsa-asfc.gc.ca/prog/nexus/location-eng.html
