Who’s Who at TravelSafe Clinic? Administrative Assistant – Tammy Ho, BA

Tammy is in charge of the important tasks behind the scenes ensuring all our supplies are stocked and our clinics are organized.  Tammy works in both our clinic locations.  Tammy holds a Bachelor’s of Arts from the University of British Columbia and one of her goals is to do research work in public health.  What she loves about working in travel medicine is that it allows her to stay current with healthcare globally.

Most Memorable Trip:

My first trip to Japan.  It was a country I always wanted to visit since I was a child and the timing was perfect to enjoy the trip with my great friend.  It was also helpful that there was a great deal on flights.  I visited Tokyo, Osaka, Kyoto, Hiroshima and Hakone.  The trip was 2 1/2 weeks and I wish I could have spent more time in each city, specifically in Hiroshima because of the beautiful countryside and onsens (bath houses).  The onsens ranged from luxury to rudimentary.  I recommend you research onsens if you are interested.

What advice would you give to travelers taking the same trip?

Don’t be afraid to talk to the locals! They tell you where the hidden gems are in the area you are visiting.  One of the hidden gems recommended to me were local coffee shops and hidden onsens – that weren’t typical tourist locations.

What advice or help can travelers expect from you when they visit TravelSafe?

My advice: when you receive your immunization booklet, don’t lose it! It will be helpful for your future trips (and it costs $20.00 to replace)!

To see one of our experienced travel consultants before your next trip, please schedule an appointment or call us at 604. 251-1975. We’re ready to share our preventative tips so you can enjoy your next adventure!
