Planning a trip is no longer as simple as purchasing an airline ticket online, grabbing your passport, and heading to the airport. International travel has become more challenging to navigate with frequent changes to travel advisories and country entry requirements during the COVID-19 pandemic. Wondering where to find useful travel links and resources? Look now further. We created a list of11links and resources to help you prepare for your next trip.
Travel.gc.ca is a key website for Canadians to read information about several travel related topics including (but not limited to):
- Current travel advisories
- Canadian passports
- Items you can bring into Canada
- Assistance abroad
- Flying requirements
- COVID-19 information and requirements
The COVID-19 section provides information about who can enter Canada, requirements for entering Canada including accepted COVID-19 tests and mandatory hotel quarantine or isolation requirements, as well as exemptions for testing and quarantine. A checklist is available to ensure you meet all requirements before arriving at the border. It includes a checklist for those who are fully vaccinated (including criteria to determine if you are considered fully vaccinated) and another checklist for those who are not fully vaccinated.
ArriveCAN is a mandatory app for entering Canada to provide travel information on your trip and after your entry into Canada. It can be downloaded on your mobile device or accessed online by creating an account. ArriveCAN will be used to:
- Provide contact and quarantine information
- Upload COVID-19 test results
- Upload COVID-19 vaccination records for exemption from quarantine measures
- Check in daily with the app during your quarantine period
The Global Affairs Canada website can be used to locate Foreign Government Offices in Canadafor your destination country. Contact your destination’s embassy or consulate in Canada to find out if you need a visa to enter the country, or to determine current COVID-19 entry requirements.
The Travel Ready hub provides travel requirements of international destinations, including entry requirements and COVID-19 testing guidelines. Travellers should confirm the information with your destination country’s consulate or embassy in Canada.
The BC Vaccine Card is the easiest way to show proof of vaccination, which is required for some events, services, and businesses in BC beginning on September 13th.
If you received one or two doses of a COVID-19 vaccine in another province or country you must register with the Get Vaccinated registration system, and submit proof of an official immunization record. Submit your COVID-19 immunization record at https://www.immunizationrecord.gov.bc.ca/
Health Gateway is a secure way for British Columbians to access a single view of your health information on your mobile device including:
- COVID-19 test results
- COVID-19 immunization records
- Immunization records from Public Health and community pharmacies
- Prescriptions
- Health Care Visits
Registration is simple and takes 5 minutes. A one-time security check verifies your identity to keep your data secure and can be done by video on your mobile device.
IATA is the trade association for the world’s airlines, representing some 290 airlines or 82% of total air traffic. The website includes an interactive COVID-19 travel regulations map of the world that outlines travel restrictions and entry requirements related to COVID-19 (travellers should also confirm entry requirements with your destination’s embassy or consulate in Canada).
Fitfortravel provides country specific information about disease risks, vaccine requirements, illness prevention, and latest outbreaks.
The ISTM website provides an online clinic directory to locate travel clinics around the world. This can be used on your travels to locate services such as rabies post-exposure vaccinations or COVID-19 testing.
