Get These Apps. Travel Like a Pro!
Millennials Wouldn’t Understand
No one can argue that technology has made life easier. With the advent of the internet and smartphones, we no longer need encyclopedias, the Yellow Pages, or cumbersome road maps–all things that anyone under the age of 20 has never heard of.
Here Today; Gone Later Today
Indeed, when it comes to apps, the motto seems to be “here today; gone later today.” The apps that you may have used last year may already be outdated or even obsolete! Another challenge is scrolling through the hundreds of apps out there and trying to figure out which ones are good and which ones shouldn’t be taking up space and data on your phone!
Travel Like a Pro!
To help you keep up with ever-changing app world, here is a list of great travel apps that’ll make your next trip easier, more convenient and more fun!
Hopper
If you like saving money (and really, who doesn’t), you’ll love Hopper! Similar to apps like Kayak and Skyscanner, you can look at the cheapest dates to fly via a month-view calendar, but Hopper goes one step further and lets you know when to buy your tickets via push notification. Hopper claims that it can save you up to 40 percent on your next flight! Not too shabby!
Airbnb
Airbnb may not be new, but they have one of the best apps to help you when you’re looking for a place to stay and want a more authentic experience. You can choose to stay with a local in their home or opt for the whole home for a more private experience. They’ve recently added a new feature called “Trips”, which offers unique experiences to choose from during your stay. As with all house sharing apps, you’ll have the best experience if you make sure you read all the customer reviews before deciding on a home!
Hotel Tonight
Hotel Tonight is a reliable service that lets you book last minute deals at discounted prices. This app can be a lifesaver when the unexpected happens while traveling. Flight delays or dropped reservations are not a problem when you have Hotel Tonight. The app is also wonderful for free-spirited travelers who like to go where the wind blows. No need to book or plan ahead!
PackPoint
If you love checklists, this app is for you! PackPoint looks at the weather forecast for the dates and location of your trip and will ask you to select activities you may participate in and then offer up a list of items you should pack based on the criteria! You won’t need your mom to tell you to bring a sweater anymore!
Google Translate
Now there’s no need to spend months learning a new language before traveling! Google Translate provides translations for 103 languages, allowing you to listen to translations out loud and translate dictation and your own handwriting on-screen. Never get lost in translation again!
Turo
Like so many other travel apps, Turo is all about the “sharing economy.” You can skip the rental car agency with Turo. This app allows you to rent cars from private owners and save money in the process. Whether you want to rent a basic car like a Toyota Camry or a BMW, you can find them on Turo.
Take your Phone but Leave the Book!
Pack these apps with you on the next trip you take and you’re sure to have a smoother and more enjoyable trip! Leave the paper maps at home and for Heaven’s sake, leave the phone book!
